MR. PAUL
Mr. Paul is a long-haired student of history who taught in the New Orleans public school system for 30 years. His family arrived as orphans during the great Irish potato famine in the 1850s. His family plot is in St. Patrick #2 Cemetery.
Bred, born, and reared in “The City that NEVER FORGOT to CARE”, Paul has Les Bons Temps in his veins (though he bleeds Black & Gold).
In a walk through the French Quarter, Mr. Paul will explain how people from the whole world arrived as runaways, castaways, slaves, pirates, soldiers of fortune, ne’er do wells, and saints. In architecture, history, art, music, food (don’t forget the food), you’ll learn New Orleans is a Big Fat Dysfunctional family that sticks together in ZYDECO times!
New Orleans saw two fires, two wars, hurricanes by the dozens, three floods in the last century, diseases (yellow fever, cholera, Spanish influenza, HIV), but it always builds and re-builds together. One of the great “Comeback Kid Stories” of the world! You’ll leave with a positive smile, and you will look forward to coming back home to “The City that NEVER FORGOT to CARE”.
